Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) sister school in Bali to Cloverdale Primary School in Perth, Western Australia.
Our association began with Cloverdale Primary School through the Adopt-a-school Association on 25th March, 2004. Our first personal contact was at MIN in July 2004 when Drs Noer Yasin our Principal, staff of MIN, Mr Arif Akmal and Mr Wayan Tur Adnyana welcomed Mrs Sherryn and Mr Vic Reid who were representing our sister school. At that meeting it was decided that we would pursue our goals of teaching computing and English to our students and that Cloverdale would endeavour to assist by providing some resources.
Our school was being renovated and a new storey added so we were attending school in the afternoons, using the building of the school up the road when the students there had finished for the day. Mrs Sherryn and Mr Vic Reid, Mrs Sheila and Mr Ted Hay and Mrs Robin and Mr John Darroch came there and sang song with us. In October 2004, Mrs Sherryn and Mr Vic came again with Mrs Kay from Ellenbrook School and we had perceptual motor classes in English in the playground under a tree.
In 2005 our school renovations were completed and we moved back to MIN. We received computers from our sister school and were able to set up a laboratory with ten computers. Cloverdale also sent us library books and music and perceptual motor CD’s to assist us to learn English.
In 2006 we were sad when Drs Noer Yasin was promoted and transferred to a new position but we were happy to welcome his replacement Drs Arif Akmal. He has continued to improve our school and encourage the students to study hard and learn well. We participate in Schools Festival events and many other celebrations in Indonesia. Many of our students play in Chess, music, dance and sporting competitions and compete at a very high level. Our Principal has worked hard in the holidays to make our school attractive and encourage us to take pride in our school.
Miss Anief our English and year 1 teacher does an excellent job communicating with Cloverdale to ensure that the education sponsorship programme runs well between the two schools.
We always like to welcome students and families from our sister school at Cloverdale, to MIN when they are visiting Bali on holiday.
