Fostering links with Bali – local charity pays for teachers in Indonesia
AdoptASchool, a local charity which aims to link school students in Bali and Western Australia, has raised over $1,500 with a Christmas in July dinner.
All funds raised will be used to pay the salaries of teachers who are teaching English in six Balinese schools.
Susan Cromb, the charity’s founder, said she was delighted at the support for the event.
“Although the amount of money raised may seem little to some, in Bali this will go a long way to improving the lives of children at the schools we are assisting in Bali,” she said.
“It also enables us to foster links between children here in WA and in Bali, which is a key part of our work.
“I’d like to thank the 30 attendees who made the evening such a success, Woolworths in Woodvale and Floreat, IGA Woodvale and Ingham Enterprises for their sponsorship.”

AdoptASchool, started in October 2002, is a cross-cultural initiative that links schools in Western Australia with underprivileged schools in Bali.
As part of the project participating schools exchange letters, drawings and projects reflecting life in that school, community and country.
There are now 90 schools in the AdoptASchool Association.
